The web is the medium I keep returning to because it’s the cheapest form of seriousness. A static page in 2026 still loads in any browser written in any of the last twenty years. URLs outlive companies. Markdown outlives editors. A site, if you build it right, becomes a notebook that compounds.

I’m pulled to the web less for the web and more for what it lets me hold together: writing, projects, sketches, conversations, the slow accretion of thinking across years. The technology is incidental; the durability is the point.

The version I want to be good at is the slow version — the kind that respects the reader’s time, has zero chrome, loads instantly, says what it means. Less Medium. More Gwern. Warmer than Gwern. The work is figuring out what warmer than Gwern means in practice.

This is dummy content. The real “why this pulls me” goes here when there’s time to write it.
